We love WALGREENS!

Last night around 2:15 a.m. I heard a beeping noise and I just thought it was part of my dream. Well it wasn't it was our smoke detector IN OUR ROOM letting us know the battery had died. Patrick got up and took the battery out but the thing kept beeping because now it needed a battery. Well we didn't have any 9 Volt batteries just sitting around the house, so at 2:30 this morning we got in the car and went to Walgreens!

We were so happy that it is only 5 minutes from our house and is a 24 hour drugstore. We went in bought the battery, put it back in the smoke detector, and were back in the bed by 3:00. Of course we were awake by now so it was really hard to go asleep! The good thing is that today I am off work so I didn't have to get up early, but Patrick was very tired this morning!

So we learned some lessons from this adventure:
1. If we every need anything in the middle of night we can go to Walgreens.
2. Change the smoke detector batteries
3. Also have a 9 volt batteries laying around the house

I hope tonight we get a good night's rest!

Date Night

On Wednesday Patrick called me and asked me if I would go on a date with him Friday night! I accepted of course and we had a great night!

He told me to be ready by 5:45 and that was all I knew! When we left we went to downtown to eat at California Dreaming! It was so much fun! We talked about school, work, and anything in between. Some local high school was having prom so we talked about prom, high school, and how the dresses have changed during the years!

After dinner we went to Frankie's Fun Park to play putt putt. I STINK! :) It was alot of fun though and I am have to say Patrick did a great job! He got two hole in ones!

After Frankies we went to see if there was a good movie playing, but there wasn't so we went to Marble Slab! We sat on a bench outside in the great weather and ate our ice cream and talked! I really felt like we were in high school again!

After that we went to Blockbuster and got the movie Juno, which I did not finish because I fell asleep!

It was a GREAT night! It was nice to feel like we were dating again! We both miss the dates we went on! :) I have to say I am very lucky to have such a wonderful husband!

The Power of Prayer

I received this from my pastor today and thought I would share. Just a great reminder of the power of prayer!

Each Night during WWII, there was an advisor to Churchill who organized a group of people who dropped what they were doing every night at a prescribed hour for one minute to collectively pray for the safety of England, its people and peace. This had an amazing effect as bombing stopped.

There is now a group of people organizing the same thing here in America. If you and your family would like to participate: Each evening at 9:00 PM Eastern, 8:00 PM Central, 7:00 PM Mountain, 6:00 PM Pacific stop whatever you are doing and spend one minute praying for the safety of the United States, our troops, our citizens and for peace in the world.

If you know anyone who would like to participate, please pass this along. It has been said that if people really understood the full extent of the power we have available through prayer, we might be speechless. Our prayers are the most powerful asset we have. Thank you.

Thursday Thirteen

I have not a had a great week at work, so I am going to try and make myself feel better by writing 13 reasons I love to teach! You don't have to read this is really just for me to realize why I love teaching!

1. I love the interaction with teenagers.
2. I love to see the teenagers mature in a year.
3. I love to remember my high school years while watching all my students go through the same important things in their lives.
4. I love to see a student actually understand and care about SCIENCE.
5. I love having my summers off and being able to leave by 4:00!
6. I always feel wonderful when I receive a note from a student that they think I am a cool teacher.
7. I really enjoy the friends I have made at my new school.
8. I love being able to mentor students during one of the most difficult time of their lives. (High school is not fun everyday)
9. I love to be able to show the love of Christ without ever mentioning His name. It is amazing how many students actually know who the teachers are that go to church.
10. I love to laugh at the funny things my students do and say.
11. I love showing students that a science can be fun and it is not that hard to understand if they just try.
12. I love having a feeling of accomplishment when I come home ALMOST everyday.
13. I love having summers off! (I know this is in here twice but I DO LOVE THAT! )

So I guess I do love teaching... It is just sometimes so hard to remember that when I have so much more work to do than teach! Education has definitely changed since I was in school! I sometimes wish I could just teach the students with no PAPERWORK!

What Has Been Going On!!

During my spring break, my mom and I travelled to Hickory N.C. to look at furniture. I found a bedroom suite that I LOVED!! :) When I bought it they said it could take 3-4 weeks to come in, so I figured we had plenty of time to buy a mattress and new comforter. (We were finally upgraded to a Queen size bed.)

Last Friday I got a phone call from the delivery company asking if they could deliver on Monday from 10-12, which worked out GREAT because I that is when I have planning.
So last weekend we had to buy a mattress, buy a comforter, move all of the old furniture out of the room, clean the room, get Patrick's parents to come pick up the old furniture and get ready for the new furniture.

Monday morning I went home to wait on the delivery and when they came the guy said that they had everything BUT the bed. I was alittle upset.. I mean who brings a whole bedroom suite without the bed. Well Patrick was very mad and called the company and they said the owner made the mistake and our bed would not be in for 2 weeks. :(

Later that day our mattresses were delivered and we fixed the sheets and everything, so last night we slept on the mattresses on the floor! I didn't think I would be able to sleep but MAN A QUEEN SIZE BED MAKES A DIFFERENCE!! I can finally move and not fall off the bed or hit Patrick! :) Even though we were on the floor I loved the mattress! Now we just hope the bed will be in soon!!! :)

On another note.. Patrick won the brackets for March Madness for our family! He was very excited!
Also I am very excited about this weekend because my family is coming down and we are going to go to the zoo!! I can't wait to see everyone!
