UPDATE: Mary Alice slept for a good two hours at a time in her crib ALL night! She woke up at 6:30 and was in the swing asleep by 7:00 and then again at 8:00 and is still sleeping. She is very fussy though and is fighting sleep. Everytime she is up she is crying! Pray we make to 4:30 when Patrick gets home!
Recently I went out and bought a new devotion book. It is Preparing my Heart for Motherhood. I would recommend it to any mother. I have only done 3 days and I have already learned alot. It is amazing how everyday the devotion is EXACTLY what I need to hear for that day.
For instance tomorrow is the first day I will be by myself with Mary Alice. I am not worried about taking care of her, in fact I am actually looking forward to spending the day with her. I am more worried about getting sleep and not being so tired! I not only have to take care of her during the day but most of the night since Patrick needs to get rest so he can work.
Today I read this quote explaining what to "pack" for motherhood, " Pack Light. Anything you pack will be inadequate; plan on needing God. Nothing can prepare you fully. Motherhood is truly walking moment by moment hanging onto the Father. Only He can guide you through."
After reading this I thought WOW... I know for a fact I am going to be tired tomorrow, but God will always be there for me to lean on. He will guide me through the day and will help me make it! If I just keep turning towards Him I shall not fear anything. I also realized that this is one of the times where I feel the closest to God. I do not know how people handle being a parent without knowing God is there for you and He made this beautiful little girl. Not only has Mary Alice bought me closer to Patrick but she has definitely impacted my relationship with God!
So if you could please say a quick prayer for me tonight and tomorrow. Also if you have any advice for how to overcome being sleepy PLEASE leave a comment!

Justin's cousins sent me a devotional book that is for the first 6 weeks. It's called Baby Boot Camp. I flipped through it and can't wait to start it. Is the one you got specific to a time period, or can I do that one next?
I remember being anxious/excited about that first day alone. I wasn't worried about being tired but about what in the world we would do all day! :) A nice cup of coffee and a warm shower is a great way to start your day off. Getting outside some and getting fresh air always helps too. And always, sleep when she sleeps as much as possible. Have a great first day!!
Being sleepy is just part of the Mommy game. But honestly, you've got it good because right now all she can do is eat, sleep, and poop. :-) She can't get into anything yet and you don't have to chase her!! Seriously though, sleep when she sleeps. I can remember gettin up at the crack of dawn with Caroline, feeding her, changing her, and putting her in the swing with the tv on so I could snooze on the couch. That doesn't make you a bad mom! It's called SURVIVAL! (Just wait until you have 2 and you have to stay awake so that one doesn't kill the other!)
You'll be FINE. Just don't stress over all the little things. Call me if you want to talk! ily
Motherhood is challenging as well as rewarding. You will always wonder if you make the best decisions for your children. Seeking God's help in ALL situations is the only way to survive. Sleep every time she sleeps and remember that coffee is your friend. I love you and look forwarding to seeing all of you on Tuesday.
