Do I Dare Post This.......

So I want give a big THANK YOU to Katie!! She works with my mom and told her about the book THE HAPPIEST BABY ON THE BLOCK!! This book has been a miracle for us! Our nights and days have gotten so much better!

Mary Alice is now on a some what schedule at night. Her daddy gives her her medicine and feeds her every night at 8:30 and rocks her to sleep. She is usually asleep by 9:30. She then wakes up again between 11:30 and 1:00 and her daddy feeds her and puts her back to sleep. She will then wake up again sometime in the 3:00 hour and I get up the feed her. She is usually asleep by 4:45.

The only "problem" we have now is that no matter what time she goes back to sleep she is going to wake up by 5:30! She usually will go back to sleep for another 20 minutes but it has to be in her swing. By 5:30 she is tired of her crib. I can't complain though I get to sleep from at least 10:00 to 3:00 most every night!

So we are now down to only getting up twice in the middle of the night and waking up for the day by 5:30! I am hoping eventually she will only wake up once, but I am not complaining considering a week ago I was waking up at least 3 times a night.

Now we just have to get her on a schedule during the day... She will stay awake and play usually for about an hour after each feeding and then falls back asleep in her crib. Eventually I would like to try to keep her up more and get her take a nap in her crib. Today after we played for awhile I put her in her crib so I could go through her clothes and she put herself to sleep, but then she spit up so she woke up, so we are making progress! :)

Thanks for all your prayers and suggestions! It is hard to believe our little girl is almost 2 months old!

Oh she'll be on a good schedule and you'll be loving life in no time. I reme, ber when Perrin was about 3-4 months old is when I started to actually enjoy it all. I also remember Perrin getting up very early but she'll stop that, promise...Jonathan and I are usually up before Perrin now in the mornings and he has never been a big sleeper so it gets better!

That book is amazing. I had a friend give one to me and I have lent mine out several times. It makes life so much easier for them to be on a routine and as a teacher you know that's what kids need. Even as a baby I think it gives them such a sense of security to know what to expect next. You guys are doing a great job!

Yay for being on a schedule! You're right it does make life much easier. Just thought I would throw this out at you also . . . check out the book, "On Becoming Babywise." I read it before Jack was born and realized that I actually agreed with most of what it says, so I took that route with him in trying to get him on a schedule. They are a little hard core with some things, so really I just pick and choose from the things I think will work for our family, but overall it is full of good ideas. Enjoy your sweet baby girl!
